Understanding the concept of layers as transparent sheets, each one of them, we will be adding items as other images (tubes, imagepsp, etc) texts and objects that create a composition. The insert will go independently, each on a separate layer. Thus, we can modify any of the images or text in case you need not therefore see all the work affected.

To use the layers, the PSP has several ways to do it. Like almost all options

Through the Menu:

or in the layers palette that unless we change how we appear when you first boot the PSP in the right side of the screen, coupled with other palettes, materials, history etc, etc. ..

From the Palette and clicking on one of the layers with the second mouse button, we are also open-down Menu with different options:

There are many types of layer: bottom layer, raster, vector, half art, masks, adjustment, group, and fuzzy selection Edit selection.

The icon in front of the name of the layer in the Layers palette indicates the type of layer:

You can also create groups of layers and layers up selections. Paint Shop Pro supports up to 500 layers.

The actual number of layers that supports an image can be limited by the amount of computer memory that is used.
