Drawing a Butterfly ;)

Tutorial made with version 9 of Paint Shop Pro, you can make any other ;)

We play with the Nodes, now let's change them again, wing shape to an ellipse.

The tutorial is long, but not complicated, so do not be alarmed it? You long to assimilate the concepts of how to work with them and have a base when we needed to use it. No fear then let them ok

Here you will find a tip, with some pointers on how to use the nodes and control points

1 º Open an image 400/400 px transparent. Select the Preset Shapes tool and choose the Ellipse. In the Materials palette, choose a foreground color and a background. Those who want. And draw the ellipse.

2 ° Now that we have drawn, click on the icon of the Pen tool, we may well see the Nodes, and the rectangle disappears. If you want to see them even better, go to the Layers palette, click on the + sign of the vector layer and the sublayer, click on the eye to hide it. We will now see only the journey, with their segments and nodes:

img 1

3 ° We will select the two vertical nodes, the top and bottom. To do this, press the Shift key (not the caps lock) and holding it we click on the Nodes:

We remain so, as shown in the previous capture.

4 ° In general, to draw an ellipse, the nodes are of type default vertex or cusp, great, because the need and anyway, it's check is good, as shown in the tip. We are located in the center point and he'll pull up being right in the node of the arrow:

5 º To deselect the nodes, click on either side of the image with right mouse button: Edit / Remove the selection:

6 ° You will go far in the node that we stay in the center and stretch it toward the opposite:

You will go on the principle of one of the checkpoints and we will put the following position:

the other control point as above:

7 º We will give tips at both ends. We are located on one of the nodes, and click, you will see the control points:

you may not see the end point is out of control because the window, then stretch the edge of this, to see a sort of grid, and the end of the Node Control Point. We pulled him in the direction of the arrow:

Again as for the node below:

By now we have an image something like this:

8 The central node, select it and clicking on any image, with the second mouse button, we get the context menu Node Type / Symmetric and pulling on one end facing up or down.

* Note: It makes no difference because a Node Symmetric if we remember the tip, the length and direction is always the same.

9 th changed the pen tool for the Selection and holding down the Control key 'stretch' of the node ends up:

10 ° To finish shaping the wings, we can modify some of the tips Nodes, the checkpoint inside of both:

I also changed a bit the ends of the wings, so that should not remain in a vertical line, move the top node a little more towards the center of the image:

And we have the part that touched the vector list.

11 º Modify the vector layer properties, we know how to do it? Remove the background color, so we can fill it later with the ones you like best, and even giving less opacity to paint pot to create the transparent effect of the wings:

You will go far on their own vector layer and clicking the right mouse button on it, in the menu press Duplicate:

We found that creating a new vector layer with another form like the one we created. With it selected, go to Image / Mirror (Mirror). We're going to drag, just as we do with a layer of normal fabric.

With your mouse and holding the left mouse button, drag the layer that we have doubled down:

We will see that the 'Form' is the vector layer created at the beginning and it doubled, it becomes a normal layer. The delete next to the fund.

We stay just a vector layer with two ellipses (forms) facing each other:

Draw another ellipse, estrechita and elongated to create the body of the butterfly and focus in the middle of the two wings:

I put a fill color to be better appreciated ;) It hardly matters now modify any node right? If now we draw a small circle at the top, we have the head of our butterfly:

Change the way the tool with which we work Nodes:

And draw two lines on the head of the butterfly:

And we have our butterfly shape storage format (Form) Remember how we did in Middle sip? Will cut the canvas is left over, before converting into shape, so that we weigh less ;) And remember that the image of the work must not be greater than 400/400 px.

I put the link here , you tend to skip the step 5 but put it on the very tip.

The Institute, I hope not difficult, is long, yes, but we are in the early tutorials Vectors and there you go little by little, to be learning to "love them" and you will see that we get ;)

I attached a tip, so you can take if you want to move to the wings of the butterfly right?
